Um pouco sobre o Lollapaloozapor Danilo Romeiro

Organizado pelo vocalista do Jane’s Addiction, Perry Farrel, o Lollapalooza é um dos maiores festivais do mundo. Já levou aos palcos bandas como Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against the Machine, Smashing Pumpkins e outras bandas de Rock alternativo mais. Aliás, o Lollapalooza foi um dos responsáveis por fomentar essa cena.

Em 2010 seu line up incluiu The Strokes, Jimmy Cliff, Tiga, Devo e Lady Gaga em um evento que aconteceu nos dias 6, 7 e 8 de agosto. No total, 152 bandas.

O festival, que teve sua primeira edição em 1991, viu seu auge e sua decadência. Viu bandas aparecerem e sumirem. Chegou a ser encerrado em 1997. Voltou em 2003 para uma edição única e, em 2005, conseguiu reviver. Assim como a cena Rock.

Lollapalooza não parece exatamente uma palavra, mas é. Entre seus significados, os mais marcantes para Perry Farrel são: “uma pessoa, coisa ou evento extraordinário” e “um pirulito muito grande”. Não há palavra melhor para um festival deste porte.

O evento, que em suas primeiras edições era itinerante, agora acontece em Chicago e gerou uma receita de mais de 15 milhões de dólares para a cidade.

Um festival de Rock que gera dinheiro para os organizadores e para a cidade. Um espaço que une pessoas e estilos.
